Reading Counts
The Scholastic Reading Counts program is used daily in the classroom.  Students can choose from 5,678 popular children's books.  Each book is labeled by Lexile Level or Grade Level and Points (determined by how many words and/or pages).  After finishing the book the student takes a quiz on the computer using the Reading Counts Program.  If the student scores a 70% or above he or she will earn the points for that book.  At the end of each marking period your child will recieve  a grade for their performance in this program.  That grade will be used twice for that marking period.

Suggestions for Success
1. Make sure your choose a book at the appropriate Lexile
2. Bigger books may look cool but they cannot read themselves
4. Discuss the book with someone while you are reading it to see if you understand it.
3. RC is a homework assignment every night for at least 10 minutes.  Get it Done!
5. Don't forget to take the quiz!  Take the quiz as soon as possible after you have read the book.
*Spelling Tests are given each Friday
